This is the perfect opportunity to combine much-loved English choral traditions with a trip to England.

This year the Vespere Singers will once again be singing the most beautiful choral music in a number of evensong services as well as a mass under the baton of the English composer and conductor Oliver Tarney.

We will be singing this summer in the cathedral of Guildford and in the magnificent St George’s Chapel in Windsor: the Royal Chapel!

There will be daily rehearsals, but there will also be time to visit the three towns and surrounding areas.

You are free to make your own travel and accommodation arrangements in accordance with your own wishes and budget. But if you prefer, we can also assist you with booking your trip and accommodation.

Singing in the choir is for experienced and advanced choral singers: you will be expected to know every single note by the first rehearsal in England, without having to depend on your fellow singers.

Further details and entry requirements can be found below.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.23.4″ text_font=”||on||||||” background_color=”rgba(245,245,245,0.52)” text_orientation=”center” module_alignment=”center” custom_margin=”2vw||||false|false” custom_padding=”40px|40px|40px|40px” box_shadow_style=”preset1″ locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Oliver Tarney

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://koorschooldelft.nl/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/oliver-Tarney-zw-w-vierkanrt.jpg” alt=”oliver Tarney” title_text=”oliver Tarney zw w vierkanrt” align=”center” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ text_font=”||on||||||” background_color=”rgba(245,245,245,0.52)” text_orientation=”center” module_alignment=”center” custom_padding=”40px|40px|40px|40px” box_shadow_style=”preset1″ locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]

English composer Oliver Tarney (1984) was introduced to choral singing in his parish church at a young age. From that moment, choral singing became his greatest inspiration and remains so to this day. After studying music at the University of Manchester and earning a master’s degree in composition, he worked as Head of Composition and Singing at Winchester College. He has written a lot of music for children and adults, amateurs and professionals. Major works include his acclaimed ‘Magnificat’, recorded for Convivium Records, and his ‘St Mark Passion’, commissioned by the St Endellion Easter Festival. Oliver has worked widely to promote singing in communities, choirs and classrooms. His great passion is to inspire people to sing.

Since September 2024, Oliver has been part of the conducting team leading the Choral Evensong Series in the Delft Schuilkerk. For the first evensong last year, he composed The Schuil Service: a new Magnificat and Nunc dimittis which premiered on 3 September 2023.

Source: www.olivertarney.co.uk

Source: olivertarney.co.uk

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” background_color=”#FFFFFF” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.23.4″ _module_preset=”default” background_color=”#FFFFFF” custom_padding=”2vw||2vw||true|false” custom_padding_tablet=”2vw||2vw||true|false” custom_padding_phone=”2vw||2vw||true|false” custom_padding_last_edited=”on|tablet” border_width_bottom=”3px” border_color_bottom=”#D33E50″ global_colors_info=”{}”]

Information and tickets

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_toggle title=”DATES AND PROGRAMME” open_toggle_text_color=”#C92B3F” closed_toggle_background_color=”#FFFFFF” toggle_icon=”||divi||400″ use_icon_font_size=”on” icon_font_size=”24px” open_icon_color=”#C92B3F” open_toggle_icon=”||fa||900″ open_use_icon_font_size=”on” open_icon_font_size=”24px” _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” title_text_color=”#C92B3F” title_font_size=”24px” global_colors_info=”{}”]

11-16 August 2026

Tuesday 11 August: Guildford – evening rehearsal (most probably in Guildford)

Wednesday 12 August: Guildford Cathedral – Choral Evensong

Thursday 13 August: Windsor St. George’s Chapel – Choral Evensong

Friday 14 August: Windsor St. George’s Chapel – Choral Evensong

Saturday 15 August: Windsor St. George’s Chapel – Choral Evensong

Sunday 16 August: Windsor St. George’s Chapel – Mass & Choral Evensong

The exact times of daily rehearsals, evensongs and mass will be announced later.

You can set your own arrival and departure dates.

[/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_toggle title=”REPERTOIRE” open_toggle_text_color=”#C92B3F” closed_toggle_background_color=”#FFFFFF” toggle_icon=”||divi||400″ use_icon_font_size=”on” icon_font_size=”24px” open_icon_color=”#C92B3F” open_toggle_icon=”||divi||400″ open_use_icon_font_size=”on” open_icon_font_size=”24px” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” title_text_color=”#C92B3F” title_font_size=”24px” global_colors_info=”{}”]

The repertoire, the specific pieces of which will be announced by the middle of May at the latest, will include:

Introits

Psalms (5)

Magnificat & Nunc dimittis (3-4)

Preces & Responses: (1-2)

Mass (1: Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Agnus Dei)

Hymns

[/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_toggle title=”TARGET GROUP” open_toggle_text_color=”#C92B3F” closed_toggle_background_color=”#FFFFFF” toggle_icon=”||divi||400″ use_icon_font_size=”on” icon_font_size=”24px” open_icon_color=”#C92B3F” open_toggle_icon=”||divi||400″ open_use_icon_font_size=”on” open_icon_font_size=”24px” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” title_text_color=”#C92B3F” title_font_size=”24px” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Singing in the choir is open to experienced and independent choral singers who have proven choral experience and preferably, who have sung evensongs before.

You must know the repertoire, which will be announced well in advance, as there will be no time for learning notes during the rehearsals in England!

You should also not have any problem with understanding an English-speaking conductor.

There is room for 28 choristers. Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. The original wooden castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1077 to guard the western approach to London.

The chapel, built between 1475 and 1528, is the architectural highlight of the castle. It is one of the finest Gothic buildings in England.

Within and beneath the chapel lie the resting places of eleven British monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip.

For more information: College of St George – Windsor Castle – Home

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_3,2_3″ use_custom_gutter=”on” gutter_width=”2″ make_equal=”on” _builder_version=”4.19.0″ _module_preset=”default” width=”100%” max_width=”1280px” custom_padding=”0px|||||” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.19.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_image src=”https://koorschooldelft.nl/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Picture2.png” alt=”gloucester-cathedral-WEB” title_text=”Guildford Cathedral” align=”center” force_fullwidth=”on” _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}” sticky_enabled=”0″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”2_3″ _builder_version=”4.19.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ text_font=”||on||||||” background_color=”rgba(245,245,245,0.52)” text_orientation=”center” module_alignment=”center” custom_margin=”||||false|false” custom_padding=”40px|40px|40px|40px” box_shadow_style=”preset1″ locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Guildford Cathedral

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ text_font=”||on||||||” background_color=”rgba(245,245,245,0.52)” text_orientation=”center” module_alignment=”center” custom_padding=”40px|40px|40px|40px” box_shadow_style=”preset1″ locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Compared to St George’s Chapel, the history of Guildford Cathedral is still relatively ‘young’. The cathedral was not consecrated until 1961, after construction had been forced to halt during the Second World War.
To finance the continuation of construction after the war, more than 200,000 people, including the royal family, took part in the so-called ‘Buy-a-Brick’ campaign: a true testament to collective effort.
Upon entering, the serene atmosphere of the interior is immediately striking: filled with light, thanks to the pale Somerset limestone pillars and white Italian marble floors.

For more information: Guildford Cathedral – Home

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

A new Cathedral Tour Singing in English cathedrals 2026 11-16 August 2026This choir trip to England is something for you … if you love singing English choral music;if you love English choral evensongs and other choral traditions;if you would like to sing in beautiful English cathedrals and an abbey;if you would like to sing […]

[137,204,115

post-12337","project","type-project","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","project_category-adults","project_category-oliver-tarney-en","project_category-projectchoir
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
